The MD Notebook is Midori's quietly iconic flagship, a minimalist, thread-bound notebook filled with MD Paper, a smooth cream stock developed specifically to work beautifully with fountain pens, ballpoints, and gel pens, with no feathering and minimal bleed-through. This version comes in a soft 5mm grid, faint enough to stay out of the way of both handwriting and sketches, but precise enough to keep lists, diagrams, and layouts lined up. The pages open completely flat to 180 degrees, the cover is wrapped in glassine paper reminiscent of old paperback books, and a colored bookmark string runs along the spine.

I like a beautifully designed notebook as much as anyone, but there's something about the simplicity of the Midori that gets me every time, the thick pages, the way it lays completely flat, that blank glassine cover just waiting to be designed as you please.
